I love the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) and as I discover pictures I am allowed to share, I will do so here. It is truly magical to me.
I have seen the northern lights only once, on a cold clear night in Bend, Oregon. I was house sitting for a friend, out in the forest away from lights. She lived on a very steep bank, almost precipice, overlooking a river. I stepped outside late and looked up into the sky and to my amazement there were green waves of color shimmering in blanket like swathes. It moved like it was alive. I was almost fearful as it didn't occur to me what I was seeing. After a few minutes, I realized THIS is what the northern lights are. Ever since that amazing viewing, I've been wanting to go where I can see them in all their different colors and shapes.
